January Inspirations

I find the bleakness of January always helps to spur me on to find new directions....I'm just not sure in which direction to go!
Do I go it alone? Combine forces? Something new all together? Who knows!

While I ponder on my next step, I have always fancied starting a collection of some sort....

Maybe a funky little collection of clocks, like the 'habitually Chic' interior designer's NYE display?

Or vintage letters. I have one 'N' saved from a falling sign, narrowly missing a passer by.
Maybe this could be an apt start to my future collection?

Or frames? Although I'm not sure I have such a nice expanse of wall at the moment and imagine all of that dusting!

Little Green Space

Flowers saved from a friends wedding

One small problem with having a first floor rented apartment is the lack of outside space. I try to make the most of beautiful flowers by filling vases to the brim. My favourite vessels are these hurricane lamps I found at a local junk shop (below). A few weeks ago I pinched a few branches of this fantastic yellow tree/shrub/hedge from a friends garden....I'm afraid I dont know the name! I'm sure someone will soon tell me!

As you can see, Chris isnt bothered. And yes, I had to buy the flowers myself.

Right then, time for a 'proper' blog!

I've been away for the past week in Abu Dhabi, home to some of the most indulgent hotels, a ridiculous amount of construction and most certainly one-upmanship!

The Emirates Palace is one of few 7* hotels in the world, styled under the idea of 'Midas Touch' and even has its very own 'Gold to go' ATM. Put in your cash and depending on how much you put in, you will get a gold coin or your very own gold bar!

On the other end of the scale is the new Yas Island, Formula One Hotel. Not a single gold leaf in sight! Its quite refreshing from the excessive use of Marble and patterned carpets everywhere else.....

By the looks of this 'blogging' malarky, it should be easy!? I'm not so sure....... but I have an ever increasing folder of 'pretty things' so why not share them and be inspired by other blogs and perhaps learn a thing or two along the way!
